Attempted Robbery of Card Room Player in California Thwarted by Brave Child

In a daring incident, four individuals were arrested following a failed attempt to rob a Southern California man in his driveway. The man, returning from an evening at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, Calif., was trailed by two of the suspects over a distance of 32 miles to his home in Irvine. Upon reaching his residence, the masked assailants, wielding what appeared to be handguns, confronted him demanding cash.

Family’s Courageous Response

The situation took a turn when the victim’s 11-year-old son heard the commotion and courageously went outside to assist his father. The presence of the young boy startled the robbers, prompting them to flee the scene.

“Sorry, sorry. Donโ€™t kill me, my family right here,โ€ the frightened victim pleaded with the bandits during the ordeal. The bravery of the young boy, who unexpectedly intervened, was highlighted by his mother in an interview with Los Angeles TV station KNBC. “I was proud that he was so brave,โ€ she said. โ€œHe was the one who scared them, but it could have been very different if they were different criminals.โ€

Mysterious Motive

Details about the reason behind the targeted robbery remain unclear, including whether the victim had won a significant amount at the card room. The identity of the man and the reason for being followed by the suspects have not been disclosed by the police.

Suspects in Custody

The suspects, all residents of Los Angeles County, were apprehended, but their names, ages, and specific charges have yet to be released. Fortunately, neither the father nor his son sustained injuries during the encounter.

The incident has left the family questioning their safety procedures. “Part of me thatโ€™s mad at my husband for not looking at his rear-view mirror, but who does that with the gates,” expressed the victim’s wife, reflecting on the traumatic experience and the security of their gated community.

The police have not disclosed the identities of the victim, his wife, or their son, maintaining their privacy in the aftermath of the attempted robbery.
