FanDuel Marks a Year of Mobile Betting in Ohio with $1M Donation to UNCF

In a gesture that underscores its commitment to community support and education, FanDuel, a leading online gambling company in North America, announced a $1 million donation to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). This substantial contribution is set to bolster UNCF’s efforts in creating educational opportunities for under-represented students. FanDuel’s donation will aid the organization in supporting students at 10 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Ohio, providing financial assistance for a range of educational expenses.

Supporting Education and Building Opportunities

UNCF, renowned for being the largest and most effective minority education organization in the nation, aims to transform the lives of young people from under-represented communities into successful college graduates. With FanDuel’s support, UNCF will extend its resources to cover essential needs such as technology, housing, food security, and tuition costs. Additionally, FanDuel plans to collaborate with UNCF to offer internship opportunities to students from these institutions.

Celebrating a Milestone in Ohio

This donation marks FanDuel’s third contribution to the UNCF in three years, following similar donations in Virginia and Maryland. More importantly, it coincides with the celebration of the one-year anniversary of mobile sports betting in Ohio, highlighting FanDuel’s dedication to giving back to communities where it operates.

The Beneficiary Institutions

The donation will benefit students at several colleges across Ohio, including Case Western University, Central State University, Ohio State University-Newark Campus, and others, providing much-needed support in various educational areas.

Expressions of Gratitude and Forward-Looking Statements

Maurice E. Jenkins, UNCF’s executive vice president and chief fundraising officer, expressed gratitude for FanDuel’s ongoing support: “We greatly appreciate FanDuel’s commitment, which significantly impacts HBCUs and their students. This partnership, especially the internship opportunities, is invaluable for our students.”

Christian Genetski, president of FanDuel, reflected on the company’s community efforts: “As we commemorate our first year in Ohio, our continued partnership with UNCF reinforces our commitment to positively impacting the HBCU community and supporting diligent students across Ohio.”
