Michigan Gaming Control Board Takes Action Against Unlicensed Online Gaming Operators

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has intensified its efforts to regulate the online gaming landscape by issuing cease-and-desist letters to three companies involved in unlicensed online gaming operations. This regulatory move is part of the MGCB’s commitment to enforcing gaming laws and protecting Michigan residents from unregulated gambling activities.

Companies Under Scrutiny for Regulatory Breaches

The entities targeted in this crackdown include PredictionStrike Inc., based in New York, accused of offering unauthorized internet gaming and sports betting services in Michigan. Sweepstakes Limited, operating from Cyprus, was found to be promoting an unlicensed online lottery and raffle through its Stake.us platform, accessible to Michigan customers. Additionally, VGW LuckyLand, Inc., located in California, faced allegations of conducting illegal gambling operations by providing internet games with monetary wagers.

MGCB’s Stance on Unlicensed Operations

Henry Williams, the Executive Director of the MGCB, emphasized the significance of strict gambling regulations, asserting that illegal gambling operations undermine the safety of citizens and the integrity of legal gambling establishments.

“Our primary objective is to protect Michigan residents and ensure that gaming revenues contribute positively to the community,”

Enforcement of Gaming Laws and Community Involvement

In line with the Lawful Internet Gaming Act and the Lawful Sports Betting Act, the MGCB’s actions underscore the requirement that only licensed operators can offer online gaming and sports betting in Michigan. Violators of these regulations face serious consequences, including imprisonment and fines. The MGCB urges citizens to report any illegal gambling activities and offers resources like self-exclusion programs to promote responsible gaming.
