Anna Komemi Joins Videoslots as COO Amidst Regulatory Challenges

Online casino operator Videoslots has welcomed Anna Komemi as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). With a rich career spanning nearly two decades in the iGaming industry, Komemi brings a wealth of experience from her tenures at notable companies like Ladbrokes, Playtech, and Aspire Global. Her global experience encompasses roles in Israel, Bulgaria, and the Philippines, making her a seasoned veteran in the field.

Komemi’s Track Record in iGaming

Before joining Videoslots, Komemi served as CEO/Executive Manager at Marketplay in Malta, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the white-label casino company and contributing significantly to its growth and success. Her appointment is seen as a strategic move for Videoslots as the company seeks to expand and strengthen its operations in 2024.

Videoslots’ Ambitious Plans for Expansion

Ulle Skottling, Deputy CEO of Videoslots, expressed enthusiasm for Komemi’s appointment, citing her passion and impact on the industry. Komemi herself is eager to contribute to Videoslots’ growth, leveraging her extensive industry knowledge and expertise. This appointment is timely, as Videoslots recently received a five-year extension from the Swedish Gambling Authority, allowing it to continue its operations in Sweden until the end of 2028.

Navigating Regulatory Waters

However, this expansion comes with its share of challenges, particularly in compliance. Videoslots recently faced a SEK 9 million penalty by the Swedish Gambling Authority for lapses in anti-money laundering protocols and customer activity monitoring. Additionally, in June 2023, Videoslots agreed to a £2 million settlement with the UK’s Gambling Commission. These regulatory hurdles underscore the importance of stringent compliance measures in the industry.
